Translation
Therefore in the rank and file let all, standing firmly in their respective divisions, guard Bhîshma, even all ye generals.

Explanation
Duryodhana’s speech closes with a direct order: every division is to hold its position and, above all, protect Bhîshma. It’s a practical instruction growing straight out of the anxiety voiced in verse 10 — if the army’s sufficiency is in doubt, its commander becomes the one thing that cannot be lost.

Commentary

Duryodhana doesn’t resolve the doubt he just voiced — he can’t, mid-speech — so he converts it into an order he can actually give. Uncertainty about the big question (“are we enough?”) gets displaced onto a smaller, controllable one (“protect the commander”), which is often exactly what anxiety does when the real problem has no immediate answer.

Lessons
Personal
- When a big worry has no immediate resolution, notice if you're redirecting that energy into a smaller, controllable action instead — useful as a stopgap, as long as you don't mistake the small fix for having answered the big doubt.
Professional
- When leadership issues a narrow tactical directive right after voicing a larger, unresolved concern about capacity, recognize it as displacement — helpful in the moment, but make sure the larger question doesn't quietly get dropped.
Family & Social
- When you can't resolve a big worry about a relationship, it's fine to throw yourself at a small controllable task in the meantime — just remember to come back to the real question once the immediate moment has passed.
